NAGA Guqin Event for August 2007 On Saturday August 4th the North American Guqin Association will hold a meeting at the and announce upcoming exciting NAGA cultural events. We are inviting those of you who are interested in sharing your passion for the art of guqin and Chinese culture to join the NAGA team and contribute your talents, show your leadership skills, and share your unique ideas (please see a list of positions available below). Volunteering for our non-profit organization enables you to be more closely involved in our events, meet cool and accomplished artists, and make new qin friends. Please join us. About NAGA The North American Guqin Association (NAGA) is a nonprofit cultural arts organization dedicated to presenting and preserving the art of the guqin, spreading community appreciation of Chinese culture through the traditional art of the guqin, and building a bridge for cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the Chinese and American communities. NAGA was founded in 1997. In the last ten years NAGA has grown in membership and has increased the number of programs it offers to the public. NAGA activities include guqin presentations, workshops, concerts, lectures, cultural gatherings, conferences etc. NAGA invites guest presenters and performers to its events to expand its mission to bring NAGA needs your help! Here are some of the ways you can help. Your support can make all the difference! 1. Call for All Types of Artists and Musicians In the past NAGA has provided a platform for all types of talented artists and musicians to get exposure in the community and has fostered bridges between artists, inspiring collaborations involving different art forms. If you are a musician, artist, calligrapher, photographer, poet, tea master, martial artist, tai chi master, dancer, singer, or actor who is interested in doing collaborative work, sharing your art, contributing to the community, and fostering cultural exchange, feel free to write NAGA and join us. We are also interested in doing collaborative work with artist groups and organizations. 2. Join the NAGA Team NAGA has always had talented people to help with its various projects. NAGA's achievements in promoting the Chinese guqin outside Volunteering for NAGA is rewarding. You'll meet new people and work together with a team to positively impact the community. Also, your volunteer hours may be used as resume material, internship experience, or even college credit. You will have the opportunity to meet guqin players and artists from all over the world.
