Playing Tang Qin in Suzhou Garden

This is another a special event I attended. I was invited to give a performance using Mr. He's 1200 year old Tang Dynasty qin . It was attended by famous painters and artists in a very elegant private garden in Suzhou. There were also Kunqu and Pingtan performances. The event was hosted by the head of China Club, Dr. Deng Yongqiang (everyone in Hong Kong seems know his name and his brands China Club and Shanghai Tan). I travelled there by traditional three wheeled rickshaw, passing traditional houses of the sort often seen in movies, and arrived at a private garden. You can see from the photos how beautiful it was. I had to wear traditional, handmade shoes before I could walk into any of the rooms in the house itself. We drank top quality tea and ate a dinner that cost around 50k USD for 30 people. Wow, this is a new life style for people in China! I was told they can have this kind of party every day if they so desire. I have been away from China too long!!! But it was a lot of fun.
